Taiwan has a rich fauna of Lonchaeidae with many species only at present only known from the island. The specimens of Lonchaeidae listed here were collected as part of a project entitled “Entomological contribution to the biogeography of Taiwan” a  co-operative project between the Zoologische Staatssammlung Muenchen (Munich, Germany) and the National Chung-Hsing University Taichung (Taiwan). Survey work carried  out between 2000 and 2002 by . It includes descriptions of two new species in the genus Lonchaea Fallen ; L. formosa sp.nov and L.macrocercosa sp.nov, and three new species in the genus Silba Macquart ; S.flavitarsis sp.nov, S.schachti sp.nov and S.trigena sp.nov.
